A very special Zowie! Thanks

Last year Ed Reynolds asked me if I'd join him in producing a comic for the San Diego ComiCon. Before that the closest I'd come to creating anything sequential was drawing 5 funny noses in a row on the same paper. Thanks to Ed I cooked up my very first completed comic - 14 pages of blood, sweat, tears and ink. Salt and pepper to taste. Serve humorously.

This year eight more artists and I joined up with Ed to create the second Zowie installment, Zowie:One! with an outstanding cover created by Alberto Ruiz. The result was a wonderful and eclectic mix of styles and humor; a product of an artistic camaraderie I'm very lucky to be a part of.

So thank you, Ed, for making me realize that creating comics is a tough job - but a job well worth tackling. I've had more fun creating stories for Zowie! than anything else I've worked on.

Thank you to the SBS crew.. Between sketch sessions, nights at Priscilla's Coffee, and general goings on about town, I've aquired enough inspiration (and material) to keep me going for an eternity.

A big thank you to my mom. I used to think it was silly and sometimes embarassing that she refused to take down the Garth Williams knock off I drew her when I was a kid. But I'm sure it was her way of saying she knew I'd be drawing my own stuff some day. And I've come to really appreciate that picture on the wall now.

A big thank you to my dad, who left me with a book and a phrase that I refuse to forget, and keep at the ready when things get tough. It always pulls me through. Thanks, Pop.

And my wife, Jennifer. Without you I'd never have finished a comic. You scanned while I drew. You lettered while I scanned. Added screens while I penciled more panels. And we started the process all over again. You never complained, all you asked for was a chocolate milk and and a Twinkie. I'll never find another partner as dedicated (or inexpensive) as you.

And a special nod to those people on the net who continue to compliment and critique my work. Your praise and honesty is very much appreciated. You're the reason I draw these dang things. You laugh. I smile.

Thank You.
