a full(filling) weekend

What a nice weekend! My long-time friend, Jon, and his wife, Mandi, came out for a visit from Ohio. Also, another good friend, Jeff, and his wife, Heather, came out from South Carolina. We all met up at our old church Sunday morning and attended the service there. Jon had decided to surprise Jeff, so he hadn't told him he'd be there. It was so good to see them all again after all this time. After church, we all went to a favorite restaurant (where the three of us used to spend many a Sunday afternoon, endlessly discussing a variety of interesting topics). After lunch, I dropped Jeff and Heather off at one of their friend's house for a Stupid Super Bowl party. Then, Jon, Mandi and I spent the afternoon at my house and later met up with some friends of mine for dinner.

Above, Mandi is indicating that Jon has what she refers to as a "food baby."

A great little restaurant in the city of Placentia, CA.

From left to right: Mandi, Jon, Jeff and Heather. Sadly, I am the only one without a spouse. However, that should be changing within the next year (details to follow in future posts).

Mandi is a graphic artist (and quite a good one too) who is always creating things. She converted her purse into the little monster you see here.

On Monday, I met up with Jon and Mandi again. We grabbed lunch at Ruby's, after which we took a stroll through downtown Fullerton to look through the shops there. When we had finished that, we got some milk-tea with boba and spent some time in a nearby anime shop. We wrapped up the day by watching Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, which Jon had never seen (the animation is pretty amazing in that movie).

Jon and Mandi (of course).

A retro bumper car inside Ruby's, decorated for Valentine's Day.

We also drove by this house. Jon and I used to be roommates, and the house we lived in was on this property. The owner of that house later tore it down and built this one. It's much nicer than the old one.

Strolling in downtown Fullerton. Black Hole Records has been there for years, but the used record store thing hasn't been my scene for years (if it ever was my scene).

Anyway, it was great to see my friends again. God only knows when I'll see them again, since I'll be in China at the end of the summer. It could be years before I see them again. But it's always great to reconnect.
