| The tradition of these German Christmas stars goes back
to the mid-19th century when typical decoration of the
Christmas tree evolved from fruit and nuts and pretzels
to include paper ornaments and toys. My German
grandmother learned to make these Christmas stars in
|
1920 when she was 9 years old, and she was taught by a
neighboring farmer's wife in her eighties, who had learned
it as a child. My grandmother passed the knowledge to
my father, and I fondly remember folding these stars
together with my Dad on snowy afternoons in Canada. |
