ARLENE RENEE FINSTON
Infinite experiences have shaped my life. My studies at Moore college of Art, and varied complementary experiences in Textile Design, Sculpture and Ceramic Art have helped me develop a way of seeing the world as light and shadow and shapes and patterns. Recently I have been using the eye of the Camera to record my unique vision.
A macro lens enables me to capture the wonderful shapes, textures and colors often hidden from view. When you look closely, there is much to see. I am an apt student of today’s technology. I have been working with Adobe Photoshop and other computer software programs since 1999. I have been creating digital composites and collages, using photograph images, and sometimes incorporating images and textures from my paintings, drawings or sculptures.
Inspiration for my art comes from all types of journeys. The personal landscape within is as much a kaleidoscope as the awe-inspiring landscape of our beautiful country. I sometimes find rocky landscapes echoing places of shelter, or perhaps suggesting something both holy and familiar, or rocks that seem to have a relationship to one another. These things often influence both my photographs and my sculpture.
