ARLENE RENEE CREATIONS | |||||||||||||||
ARLENE RENEE FINSTON STUDIES AT MOORE COLLEGE OF ART, AND VARIED COMPLEMENTARY EXPERIENCES IN TEXTILE DESIGN, OIL PAINTING, SCULPTURE AND CERAMIC ART HAVE INFLUENCED MY USE OF PATTERN, TEXTURE AND SCULPTURAL FORM, COMBINED WITH MY PASSION FOR COLLECTING ANTIQUES, BEADS, ORNAMENTS, OLD LACE AND UNUSUAL FABRICS, HAVE ENHANCED MY ABILITY TO CREATE UNIQUE AND ONE OF A KIND PERSONAL ORNAMENT. ALL OF MY JEWELRY IS HAND STRUNG AND ALL EAR WIRE IS HAND FORMED. MY HATS ARE HAND BLOCKED AND HAND SEWN USING THE OLD TECHNIQUES AND CONTEMPORARY AS WELL AS ANTIQUE HAT FORMS. To Be an Artist Creativity colors every aspect of my life. The challenge of the process, and the Adrenalin rush of achievement as each work takes shape. Everywhere, I see shapes, colors, patterns and textures. My world is filled with unfinished projects; those that are in progress, and those that are being constantly created in my mind. Every day has been a balancing act between the things that must be done (earn income, pay bills, appointments, family, friends, obligations) and my creative necessities. I savor the time; to create; to experiment; to see something new; to try a new media; to try a new process; to continue a work in progress. Every day is a gift. There is never time enough.
