since i just got home from christmas vacation last night, i didn't have a chance to draw anything new for i-fri. but then i saw the topic was "magic" and i thought of this drawing i made for a production of "a midsummer night's dream" that i costumed a couple of years ago. this is titania, queen of the fairies, charming bottom the weaver. midsummer is my favorite of shakespeare's plays.

my friends are going to interview a great dane over christmas to see if he is the right woofer to join their family. he is being fostered right now as part of a great dane rescue organization. although i was going to make an effort to draw something that wasn't a dog for i-fri, this week's topic just had to be for them.

i can't post any pictures because all i am making is christmas gifts these days! i have already finished a -------, i'm working like mad to get a ------------- finished and then i am cutting out the fabric for a ------------ today. not much to talk about really.

very late in the day, but still friday.
this is a departure from the norm for me. this one was sketched entirely on the computer, using my wacom tablet. usually i like to work on paper, but it's been a crazy week and the wacom called to me.
my little sister used to get lonely when i would fall asleep first and everything was quiet, so she would creep downstairs where she could hear voices. she would fall asleep on the stairs with her "wilk" (quilt). the topic "security" made me think of "blanket" which made me think of "wilk".

 | i am completely in love with the musical "a year with frog and toad". i just ordered the cast album this very minute. we went tonight to see it with a friend of ours. it originally opened in minneapolis, but we missed it the first time it was here. it went off to broadway, was nominated for 3 tonys and then came back here to the childrens theater. what a delight. arnold lobel is one of my very favorite authors and illustrators and his daughter was a huge part of this production. if you get a chance, see it. |

  | i have been getting ready for holiday shows like crazy the last couple of weeks. i mentioned to my mom that i had done a complete redesign on my finger puppets so i wanted to post some pictures for her. <-- new old (below) i switched from felt to fleece and designed more machine sewing and less fussy hand work. i think they are a lot more appealing and they are much more fun for me. i made 9 sets just this morning. i had been so procrastinating making the old style ones that i had a set waiting to be finished that i owed to my friend danielle since last christmas. (yikes!) |

tatting on monday, weaving on tuesday and felting on thursday. it's been a busy week for classes. my group had great time making snowmen last night. they were on their way to the yarn shop on the way home to get more fleece for more felting fun. i also set up for my big holiday show yesterday. if anyone wants to make a road trip to Luck, WI (1 hr north of mpls), it is a great show with some really terrific artists. i am making more finger puppets today. i don't have enough for 3 weekends up there. i did a complete redesign of my finger puppets about 2 weeks ago. i like the new ones a lot, but it meant i was starting from scratch.
