01/17/2007: "holiday gifties"

IMGP0041 (83k image)
finally getting a chance to post a few pictures of some holiday gifts for some of my lucky family and friends (at least i think they're lucky).
first, a needle felted table runner for my mom. i bought the grey-green fabric and then added the birds on top with needlefelting. it is about 60 by 18 inches. this was a demonstration project and i am just thrilled with how it came out. it was my first attempt at needle felting something flat and i think it has become my favorite needle felting technique. you can also do 3-d sculptural kinds of things but this is more like painting with fiber. i did another needle felting demonstration last saturday and made myself a cute sweater. pictures of that to follow.

next is a set of "magnetic stories" for my friend ben. i made 1 inch buttons and put magnets on the back. he has nouns, verbs, and adjectives to make up his own stories like "Winnie ate smelly soap" or "Ben built a log house". They were huge fun to illustrate!

the runner is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!! The colors are so bright, too.

I also love the magnet set. Aidan is really into magnets, so I imagine Ben is having a grand old time with them.

AKA: recipient of needle felted table runner...it is hanging on the wall in our bedroom! I do not trust the family to keep the tomato soup off my artwork. Thank you again, sweetie, it looks much better on the wall, you remember what the dining room table normally looks like? smile
