04/10/2006: "kitty quilt"

catquilt (31k image)
the center of each pieced block is a square of kitty cat print surrounded by varied width strips of different colors. alternate squares are a fun modern print in brown, tan, lime, turquoise and red. i was a little hesitant to make a brown quilt for a baby, but i think this one is just marvelous. i didn't get a chance to start quilting today because i didn't have a big enough piece of anything for the back. but i made a quick trip to the fabric store and a piece is in the washer now.

I really like the splashes of blue and green, and that modern print is actually pretty cool...not something I'd normally choose myself, but it really really works well here.

And I'd say that the color just makes it more suitable for wee one to grow into rather than things being "too baby-ish" to keep using. big grin

What a lucky baby! I am sure that she will love the kitties!
