04/05/2006: "today is a great day to dye"

dyestoday (25k image)
it was about 60 degrees outside when i got home from work, so i put the dog on her string in the backyard and she helped me do some dyeing. i did 2 pieces of cotton and about 6 of silk. more materials for quilted silk cuffs. i was thinking about doing some glasses cases and maybe headbands. the cotton is for a swap that i have volunteered for. i get to send a packet of raw materials to another artist who is then challenged to make something from them and post it in their etsy shop. part of the challenge is to send what i want and not necessarily a medium/style that the artist normally works with. so far i know that the person sending things to me is from australia (!) and is a jeweler. i decided that my person to send to (unknown at this point) needed 1/2 yard of handdyed fabric. the piece of fabric for the swap is obscured in the clothesline picture so it will be a surprise, but i can hint that it is the piece in the large container without an arrow.

I am curious to know exactly how the hound helped. Happy for your 60 degree day, it was 82 on the bank clock when I left school at 3. Just what we needed on a day for standardized testing!

helping = nosing buckets, crawling under the table, barking at squirrels and robins, tangling me up in the rope...

well standardized tests on an 80+ degree day sounds better than trying to balance loans that my co worker has been working on for 3 weeks now.........
