03/29/2006: "ode to orange"

i am running out of words for orange and purple. i have been making silk cuffs and trying to name them different things so that i can keep track of them. i have discovered that there aren't that many words for orange and purple. thesaurus.com gives me these suggestions:

orange: apricot, bittersweet, coral, peach, red-yellow, salmon, tangerine, titian
purple: amethyst, bluish red, heliotrope, lavender, lilac, magenta, mauve, mulberry, orchid, perse, plum, pomegranate, reddish blue, violaceous, violet, wine

i really don't want to have to resort to cute names like "sunshine surprise" or "tropical seabreeze".

i have used sunset, flame, coral.... so i need help with things that are orange and purple!
