01/12/2005: "a page"

here's a page that i finished last night. i have discovered that we have really mediocre pictures. no slights meant to the wonderful family members who took pictures. we didn't have a photographer and i wouldn't have _any_ pictures if it wasn't for you guys. but a lot of the pics were taken on disposable cameras (at my suggestion). i had not realized how much i LOVE digital cameras. i take so many more pictures that there are always a few good ones. i remember days of film and getting a whole roll of lousy prints back.

I've been meaning to do our wedding scrapbook for ages, and just can't bring myself to start. Our photo situation is not unlike yours, since we didn't spend the cash to hire a "real" photographer. We do have a few pretty nice rolls that John's brother Bruce (hobbyist photographer) took. He was also present at all of the events surrounding the wedding, so we've got pix from those, as well. But no traditional large, glossy "wedding pictures."

the sample pages that they always make up in scrapbook stores always look so cute because the photos always go together. in mine, the lighting is different, the colors are slighly different, every camera does something it's own way. i discovered that using a small format has helped a bunch. having only 8" square to fill means only a couple of pictures on each page.

We didn't have a photographer either, when you tell them on Sunday that the wedding is the following Saturday, lots of things get a little crazy...like mothers!
The only photos we have are a few from one roll, camera operator opened the back of the camera by mistake.
On the up-side, I won't ever have to go through the exercise of scrapbooking it.

Blake and Linda both did a really nice job of taking pictures for us. I put them into little books for the family, and one for us, but I don't think I could stand to do a whole scrapbook for that.
