04/28/2004: "Coming very very soon..."

First dress rehearsal is tonight and so I should have some pictures to post by late this evening. I am going to try and take a ton of them. I am nearly done with costumes - a few buttons and things to go. whew! 2 1/2 hrs to go and then it's mostly out of my hands.

I taught an embroidery/applique class this morning to 2 groups of 6th graders. It was a blast! They made patches from squares of wool felt that they embellished with things that symbolized them. Must have been a very loving group, I saw lots and lots of hearts. wink This is part of a unit that they are doing about "who I am and where I am from". The only downside of the class was that I had bad directions to the school and I was about 10 min late getting there. ARRGH. Happily, my friend Jen rescued me (though she doesn't know it!) When we talked the other day, she brainstormed an alternate route to get there and avoid downtown. When I realized that my "official" directions were missing a crucial turn or interchange somewhere, I remembered her advice, bailed off the highway I was on and headed for one of the roads she mentioned. Happily, everything worked out great. The class was doing some journal writing at the beginning of class and I showed up just as they were ready to move on to my stuff.

Oh no! crying I'm sorry your directions were bad -- that sucks. But it sounds like the class was a success -- what a relief; way better than the "schnauzers" cool eh?

Good luck with dress reheasal!
