The SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) project has updated its SETI@home client to version 2.0, adding security features, improving proxy support, and fixing bugs to the software that utilizes distributed computer processing power to analyze data from the Arecibo radio telescope.
SETI@home 2.0 requires a PowerPC-based Mac with at least 24 MB of RAM and is a free 360K download.

We hope by now most of you are running SETI@Home on your computer, and providing the benefit of your computer's free time to further a good scientific cause...
Now you have the opportunity to share your productive work with the rest of AppleSPICE too! AppleSPICE has its own group at SETI Groups, so all the blocks processed by our group are reported on one page, within the CLUB listings.... you can see the totals we are all contributing.

You will still keep your own record of blocks done, but now you can contribute the hour totals you've processed to our club total... that way you add to AppleSPICE total and your total everytime you finish a block.
