Shroud of Turin Exhibit

In order to do something special for the Jubilee year, the Metro West district will be sponsoring a three day visit of the fourth largest collection of artifacts and information about the Shroud of Turin at St. Stephen's Hall in Framingham from April 17 to April 19. On April 19, Richard Orareo, a world-recognized authority on the Shroud, will speak about its history and significance.

The exhibit will be open from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, the exhibit will be open from 3 p.m., with Mr. Orareo's talk beginning at 7:30 p.m.

St. Stephen's is located at 221 Concord St. in Framingham. The phone number is (508) 875-4788.

May 7 Communion Breakfast

The 51st annual Communion Breakfast for the Society will be held at the Park Plaza hotel on May 7. At our board meeting on April 1, the controller, Ed Resnick stated that we already had over 220 Vincentians signed up. If you haven't sent in your conference's registration, please do! This will be a great chance to get together with fellow Vincentians. The celebrant at the Mass at Our Lady of Victories will be Bishop MacNamara, and the speaker at the breakfast will be Mr. James Breen, director of the Young Adults' Ministry for the Archdiocese.

June Quarterly Meeting

Our next quarterly meeting should be in June. Any conference wishing to host the meeting, please contact me as soon as possible.

Founder's Day Mass

The feast of Blessed Frederick Ozanam falls on September 9, which is a Saturday this year. I would like to hold our Fall quarterly meeting on that date, beginning with the Mass of Bd. Frederick and following with a luncheon. I have contacted the office of the new regional bishop, Rev. Richard Malone, about the bishop celebrating Mass for us, and will let you know if he can be with us when I hear back from his office. If any conference would like to host this quarterly meeting, please let me know.

New Conferences?

I recently spoke with Father Christopher of St. Theresa's parish here in Brockton about the possibility of starting a conference there. Fr. Christopher has worked with SVDP conferences in past assignments, and is eager to see a conference established there. St. Theresa's is a Maronite parish, which celebrates Liturgy according to the Eastern rites. Please pray for the parishioners of St. Theresa's as they consider joining us in the our work of serving the poor.

If you are aware of a nearby parish that doesn't have a conference but whose pastor might be interested in our work, please let me know so that I can contact the parish and do what I can.

District Officers Still Needed

I still need volunteers for the District board: at least 1 vice-president, a treasurer and a secretary. If you would like to help our your fellow conferences by serving on the District board, please contact me so that we can begin working together.

Newsletter Items

If your conference is planning a special day, needs some ideas, or in any other way wants to communicate with the other conferences in the District, send in your items and I'll publish them here. I plan on a monthly mailing to keep all the Vincentians in the district up-to-date.
