Comparison of high-speed images from JVC GRDVL9800U and Canon Optura Pi

The following are some "high-speed" images of a music CD, taken indoors under bright room lights. The CD is spinning in all the images except for the first.

These were taken in progressive-scan mode, explicitly setting the shutter speed. Note that the highest shutter speed of the JVC is 1/250 sec, as opposed to Canon's 1/4000 sec. The JVC does have a "high speed" mode, where it captures smaller images that actually do seem higher-speed than 1/250 sec. Unfortunately you can't do progressive scan or still-shots in that mode, so I couldn't figure out how to bring reasonable looking images of that mode into the computer. Sequences captured in that mode can be viewed back in slow-motion on the camcorder.

Not-spinning

Canon, auto shutter

Canon, 1/250sec shutter

Canon, 1/1000sec shutter

Canon, 1/4000sec shutter (highest shutter speed)

JVC, auto shutter

JVC, 1/250sec shutter (highest shutter speed)
