Simple EXIF Viewer for Mac OS X

EXIF Viewer is a small Mac OS X application to display EXIF information in JPEG files coming from digital cameras. This version is based on Eric M. Johnston's "exiftags" EXIF parsing code --- Please refer to the Readme document provided with the application for the appropriate copyright notice.

Click here to get EXIF Viewer as a small compressed tarball. It should be automatically unpacked for you after downloading, leaving you with a "EXIF Viewer" folder. If not, double-click to open it (on older systems you might need StuffIt Expander to do this).

One question I frequently get is about EXIF Viewer's ability to retrieve the shutter count. In general I don't know the circumstances under which the shutter count is available in images, and even if so, whether it is reliable. For what seems to be reliable shutter counts for Canon DSLRs, take a look here. I used this once, with the 40D, and it seemed to work.

2.2 (3/14/04) Fix for 10.2.x and earlier systems: Allow open panel to accept upper case file extensions ("JPG", "JPEG", "THM").
2.3 (9/28/04) Switch to exiftags version 0.99.1, including support for additional cameras.
2.4 (10/3/05) Switch to exiftags version 1.00, including support for more cameras and Nikon ISO settings.
2.5 (1/12/06) Universal (PowerPC and Intel) release; no other changes. As an aside, making the application Universal required a simple rebuild and nothing else.
2.6 (5/29/07) Better handling of ISO in Canon files.
2.7 (8/28/08) Switch to exiftags version 1.01, including some bug fixes.
