Canon Powershot TX1 stills from a Baltic Sea Cruise and Italy
The Canon Powershot TX1 is a compact digital camcorder that can do 1280x720 "HD" movies and 7MP photos. It has a form factor reminiscent of the old Canon S100: Boxy but solid.
Thanks to its compact size, 10x optical zoom, and video capabilities, the TX1 proved to be a great complement to the Canon 20D on a recent European trip. Below are some of the photos taken with the TX1.
The "HD" video format of TX1 has 16:9 aspect ratio. Unfortunately when alternating between video and photos, you need to explicitly switch to the 4:3 format for photos if you wish to utilize all 7MP of the sensor. Otherwise you end up with 16:9 stills that are only 5MP. After constantly trying to remember to switch formats on the first few days of the trip, we eventually gave up and learned to like the wide aspect ratio for stills.
