| Planning the COMPoST Flat 4 Tour (August 25 - 27, 2006) | | Date Created: Jul 30, 2006, 10:55 AM |
Skillful New(er)bies, salty Veterans and crazy Racers of COMPoST.
We are about to embark on the great group ride, which we have striven to plan over these many days. The spirit of the ride shall be with us. The joy of lean angles and the feeling of a high performance motorcycle will be ours to savor. In company with your fellow COMPoST brothers and sisters, we will bring about a safe, joyous and (historically) hilarious trip.
Our ride can and should be a safe and enjoyable one. The roads are plentiful, well- (for COMPoST) planned and curvaceous. They ought to be fun to ride.
I have full confidence in each of our abilities to adhere to the ride rules, the Pace and above all, our personal skill levels. We should accept nothing less than a safe and fun ride for all.

- [REMINDER] If you have never ridden with us before, please read over our ride guidelines and hand signals here:
http://www.compostriders.com/home/rules.htm
The most important rules:
1) Ride your own ride; do not use the rider in front to gauge your speed. Judge your own speed; stay within your own limits; don't take unnecessary chances.
2) Don't turn to follow the group if you can't see the rider *behind* you. If you have to, stop. This keeps the group from getting split up no matter how far they get strung out.

Throat Mic/Headsets Info (Go COMPoST SpecOps style! ALL YOUR RIDE ARE BELONG TO US!)
Actually, the throat mic situation is different. I spent some time with Crossfire on the phone yesterday and they highly recommend the Commando unit with sound tube for use under any helmet. The sound tube is like an ear bud and they say can take the place of an earplug.
I will most likely be ordering a full set up of this style along with their intercom system for two up riding. Compatibility is actually quite good across the board.
http://www.crossfirecomm.com/products/mic.html
They show a online special of $34.95 but the Comp Acc catalog has them for $32.99. The sportsman is the one for a closed helmet since it doesn't use a sound tube.
Check compatibility for your style Talkabout in the chart.
