It was a weekend of gaming as dismal weather (a blocked low that was so well developed it looked like a hurricane was over Chicago) and the fact virtually all the Ducatii Monster S4Rs at MCC were all spoken for (sold).
I was really looking forward to trying the uber Monster- perhaps the final rendition of the evergreen Ducati Monster family. A family that first debuted 13 years ago (1993) and was penned not by an Italian designer... but rather an Argentine, Miguel Galuzzi.
Riding Jeff's Speed Triple made me remember how much more relaxed (yet no less capable) a sport standard (naked sportbike) feels. And since the Triple is 955cc (open class), how much more effortless roll-on acceleration is.
On the 749 and to even greater extent, the SV650 requires that I stir the gears more often to get muy rapido motive force. The SV650 is not quite enough muscle and the 749 is brutal for anything but twisty backroads or track use.
Guess I'm not only getting older (and more out of shape), I'm also getting lazier. But then, as the saying goes, the human mind can rationalize anything, if it wants to. :) |
On a completely unrelated topic, the annual E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) convention is over. And I haven't been this excited about video games in awhile. Although Nintendo's Wii stole the show, the plethora of exciting XBOX 360 games on the horizon is great stuff.
One of these was unexpected, Test Drive Unlimited was available as a time limited (15 min/session) demo via XBOX Live Marketplace. The concept is fantastic. It is no Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport in the simulation department but the fact its a MOOR (massive open online racing) game might very well make up for it.
Imagine having fun with a group of friends tearing up the virtual Oahu roads (1000 miles of actual roadway claimed), engaging in pick up street racing, collecting all manner of exotic cars, cribs and causing mayhem. It's the total motor- (and moto, bikes also are featured) head experience.
Looks like I'll be spending some fun hours online in the near future.
My gamertag is Tam 212. Hope to catch some of you out there on XBOX Live. |
