I am still not feeling all that renewed but at least I didn't feel as old and run down after communing with the bike this weekend. Or, to be more precise it was:
"Spring cleaning for "the bird who still has no name" and then about half a day of bike maintenance" weekend.
Tasks completed at 5150miles:
-oil change
-bleed brakes
-bleed clutch
-coolant flush/change |
The oil was filthy icky dark. Glad I got fresh stuff in there. Bike seems to shift a bit more nicely. Since Shell Advance Ultra is not available in the US... let's see how Rotella T Synthetic works for my Italian Mistress. :)
The brakes were getting spongy and the fluid fairly dark. In goes Valvoline Synpower DOT 4. Now, the Brembo "whoa nelly" is back! With the Stomp traction pads on the tank, I should have help with avoiding racking myself.
The clutch fluid was... perfect dark. Heck, it was practically black. We'll have to see how much a difference this makes with clutch actuation.. it was getting a bit sluggish.
Coolant is also changed. The purty OEM blue stuff is replaced by Rotella ELC in hot pink. The reservoir is part of the right intake runner! Bogus. Had to drain the fluid with my trusty Mityvac.
To top it off, I went riding in Kettle Morraine with some Full Moon friends. ~ 200 miles.
And yes, the "bird that still has no name" let me know how much he/she appreciates a totally sanitized/remodeled cage. :) |
