Saling to the Farallon Islands

Our first ocean sail: round trip to the South Farallon Island on August 5, 2001. We left the dock at 0800 from Sausalito and arrived at the island at 1655! Our way back was much faster: 2230 at dock.

Just after we'd arrived we wanted to make a wide turn around the island. A beautiful vista (of the island, that is). Todd: the proud owner of the sailing boat! Sailing isn't all stress, especially on a nice beam reach doing 6+ knots. Checking the wind direction or thanking the heavens above? Yet another beautiful vista (of the sunset, that is).
