Paint and Rust

So this evening I went to the library and picked up three books on auto body repair. It doesn’t look terribly difficult to fix small problem areas - assuming you can match the paint. It does look pretty time-consuming, and I’d worry about paint and paint dust and stuff getting all over the non-Ghia stuff in the garage.

I’ve decided I like the current color, so I don’t need to repaint the whole car - unless I can’t manage to match the current paint, or I turn out to be completely terrible at painting cars.

In any case, the first step is probably to de-rust and repaint the area under the back seat. The cosmetics of this area aren’t important, it needs to be done, and it’s better if I learn how on a hidden part of the car.

If anyone has any pointers on how a complete neophyte can learn how to do minor bodywork and auto painting, please leave me a writeback or send me an email. Thanks!
