Hope, Joy, Peace and Love |

Dear all,
The Christmas Spirit, 2004, visits our home every night (or early morning, I don't know). My only clue MAY be, but don't quote me on this, that the Christmas Spirit, 2004 needs a new muffler under its tree.
Every morning a bag of presents awaits us, along with a figure from a nativity scene. It is terrific fun, and though often I am up late, I don't even have the temptation to peek at the door to see if I see the Spirit swinging by, because that would wreck all of the fun.
Each bag contains a card, signed "The Christmas Spirit 2004," and today's said, "Jesus is Hope because every promise of God is fulfilled in Him...Joy because in him dwells all of God's fullness...Peace because all authority has been given to Him...Love because he gave himself without reservation."
A blessed Christmas Eve to you.
Karl may be home for it.
YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Surgery went very well. They inserted the new shunt in the third ventricle, have it draining in his neck, and left the existing ones there because they are doing just fine. They aren't functioning now because they don't have to, meaning that there is no additional fluid, and yet could be useful if there is any trouble down the road.
He is alert, smiley, and refusing to sleep, all good signs of the Karl I know and love.
I spoke with the neurologist again yesterday, mostly to get yet another confirmation that I didn't cause this new fluid build-up, and she reassured me that I didn't.
Can you believe that my clumsiness, my ineptitude on the ice, was the vehicle for God's healing? It's as if I got a holy kick in the butt to get Karl in for another C-T that would reveal what the last one didn't.
So maybe, just maybe, we can take Karl home.
In the new minivan. We picked it up yesterday while Karl was in recovery (of course Mom stayed at the hospital), and there it sat, complete with a bow on it (Christmas for the next 27 years, the least span of time that this Honda will last, I rationalize to myself...). The folks who sold us the car were so attentive to our needs, and realizing that I don't have time to dash here and there even took care of securing my license plates et. al. Bill is smiling down, so proud that I bought a Honda. A quick story from our time in Badger. A horrific thunderstorm roared through our area, and I was at home, Bill in Castlewood. Afterwards, I called up there to see if he was alright. "I'm fine," he said, "I'm just worried about my baby." "Oh I'm safe and sound." I replied. "It was mostly noisy down here." Long pause. "Um, good, honey. But," another pause, "I was really talking about the Honda."
I will keep you all posted on Karl's well-being. There will be another C-T today to ensure that all is functioning, and we look forward to those results.
I am most grateful for your prayers and your goodwill.
God is good.
The peace of the season be with you.
Anna
