Patrick Lee - Look!

The most unexpected things can happen and they do happen. Long time friend and collaborator from the Aux Yeux days, Patrick Lee has stunned us all with his new work, not only did he take a giant leap into COLOUR, he took a quantum leap into DIGITAL as well.

Yes, I know that it is unbelievable but it is true, Patrick's new work is as remarkable, as it is in colour! The work centres around his personal expression of issues that he faces in his life, issues which affect his inner most feelings. Beautifully shot they consist of a series of diptychs, that are ubiquitous with symbolism. I asked Patrick about this and he told me that he had no initial idea when he was shooting the photograph, but when he was making the pair selections for each diptych, deep and instinctual symbolism came into play. Leave it up to Patrick, if anyone can bring gut wrenching feelings to life in a two dimensional plane, Patrick certainly can!

Patrick is a founding member of Aux Yeux, a group that I joined in the early 90's as well as founding member of Para/Site Art Space along with Kith Tsang (also pictured above on the left).

A bravo! to Patrick and to ART STATEMENTS (www.artstatements.com ) for once again showing more Photography and pushing the limit in alternative non-commercial yet meaningful, visually powerful works of art. And, by doing so, making yet another "art statement" in Hong Kong.

Finally, I am super glad to have been a catalyst to this by having introduced Patrick to ART STATEMENTS earlier this year.
