My buddy Chi

BANGKOK

You go through life making friends and acquaintances, but how many of your friends can you really call "a true friend"? In Hong Kong, everyone is a "friend", even if you only happened to meet that person once in a loud bar and you are not even sure if that person remembers your name.

My friend la!

And then there are the friends who are real, the ones you are probably never going to forget even if you don't see them in person for 20 years. True friendship has a timelessness about it. It doesn't matter how long you haven't met each other, the moment you do, you pick up right where you left off, as if there was no break.

Chi is the latest person I have added to my short list of true friends. He is one of the easiest persons I know to get along with, but don't let that fool you into thinking he might be a fake. Chi is genuine, and he is genuinely interested in whomever he is talking to. There are so many qualities he has that it wouldn't be fair to my other friends if I listed them here. But one thing is for sure, baring any religious comments here, I would say Chi is one of the few people I know who is truly spiritual.
