Unique Dominique

HONG KONG

Dominique has been a close friend since I moved back to Hong Kong. We have been in several group shows and for years have enjoyed talking about photography and sharing ideas about what makes a good photograph. We also were both born in Africa, although she has seen a lot more of it than I have. She grew up travelling and photographing thanks to her father who took the entire family on what today would be termed "adventure" holidays. I don't know anyone who as a teen-ager experienced one of the ultimate road trips, they drove across Africa from south to north on a family trip!

Dominique is a photographer/video artist, and has been teaching photography for a number of years. I am glad I gave her a little wooden camera a few years ago when she was about to attend some alternative process courses in Maine. As it turned out she has put the thing to real good use, this is the second solo exhibition of hers featuring photographs taken exclusively with that little camera. Here she is standing next to one of her favourites at her solo exhibition titled: Accidental Traces.
