This is MARINE BAR AND DISCO in Pattaya, Thailand where anything goes, it attracts the most bizarre variety of patrons, from oil company executives to pretty gay boys, from sailors on shore leave, to sexy working girls plying their trade or the essential "Ladyboys" (transvestite and transexuals). In short, all manner of unusual and bizarre people from all over Asia, Europe, Middle East and the Americas make this place the UN of all-night party animals.

According to legend it has been around since the Vietnam war days when marines used to come here for R&R. Although it is one of the oldest establishments in this beach town, it is still very popular especially as an after-hours place. It used to have a sunken dance floor but due to too many miss-haps, it was filled-in to make it level. I liked it better the old way myself.

On this particular night, the police raided the place and forced them to shut down at 2:30am, well past the 1:00am curfew that has recently been imposed on the entertainment industry. This is a new law in Thailand and being contested by many in the tourist areas because it is hurting business. Long gone are the good old days when the action started after 3:00am, which was the time most regular bars closed, and everyone congregated here for a few more hours of clubbing, music wouldn't stop until sunrise.
