ISLAMABAD

I am not sure everyone agrees with the motto on this giant billboard which is just outside the airport, as a matter of fact I have a couple of Lahori friends who would say their town is truly more beautiful.

Islamabad is the new capital of Pakistan, built in the early 60's (designed by Greek Architect Kostantinos Doxiades) and it was the only city in Pakistan to be planned (all other cities grew organically and ad-hoc over centuries). This made Islamabad so radically different from the rest of Pakistan that people would joke saying that "the best thing about the new capital is that it is only 15 kilometers from Pakistan" referring to the closest city which is Rawalpindi 15 clicks away.
