Blade-Runneresque




My favourite Science Fiction film of all time has got to be Blade Runner. Although Blade Runner is set in Los Angeles in 2019, there are times when I turn a corner in Hong Kong and what I see can only be described as a Blade Runneresque scene.

It is said that the author of the book on which Blade Runner is based (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep) Philip Kindred Dick, was envisaging a Los Angeles over run by Asians (the only race to be vulnerable to a disease which led to them failing the necessary health test required to move to other worlds/planets). His imagination mixed elements of Hong Kong and Tokyo, both cities have contributed to "the Look" of Blade Runner's LA streets.
