Coffee Culture





Coffee Culture has only started to take off in Hong Kong since the mid 90's. The lack of space means that sidewalks in most parts of the city (especially older streets) are very narrow.This and the heat and humidity levels that we experience for 8-10 months of the year are the main factors responsible for the lack of sidewalk cafes. There is a Starbucks downstairs from where I live and one of the side windows has a deep niche covered in black marble. Fortunately for me, and weather permitting, I will sit there and enjoy the best compromise between living in Central and having a sidewalk cafe. On this particular evening, I was enjoying a coffee with Alice.
