The Arbuckle's in my family come from Cambuslang and Rutherglen in Lanarkshire, Scotland. Both of these towns had quite a number of coal pits and most of the family were employed down the mines.
1st Generation
The farthest back I have been able to trace this family, is to William Arbuckle born circa 1762 who married Marion Marshall born circa 1766. They married in Cambuslang on the 13th July 1787. They had at least 3 children:

2nd Generation
My branch of the family is descended from Alexander. Alexander married Elizabeth Clark circa 1820 in Cambuslang. Elizabeth was born circa 1800 her parent's were Peter Clark and Janet Donaldson. They had 7 children, the 1st of which was born in Cambuslang, the family then moved to Rutherglen and the remainder of the children were born there. Their children were:

Alexander married Margaret Burnside in 1861 in Rutherglen. Margaret was born circa 1833 in Bridgeton, Glasgow. Her parent's were William Burnside and Margaret Gray. Alexander and Margaret had 1 child:

Marion married Andrew Kelly in 1849 in Glasgow. Andrew was born in 1826 in Campsie, Stirling, his parent's were Robert Kelly and Jean McDonald. The family later changed their name to Kinloch. Marion and Andrew had 6 children:

Alexander Arbuckle and Margaret Burnside's child
Alexander Arbuckle married 1st Agnes Brown in 1892 in Rutherglen and 2nd Robina MacIndoe in 1912 also in Rutherglen. Agnes was born circa 1865 in England, her parent's were William Brown and Barbara Deans. Robina was born circa 1876, her parent's were Thomas MacIndoe and Jane Waddell. Alexander and Agnes had 3 children:

Alexander married Agnes Houliston in 1883 in Glasgow. Agnes was born circa 1857 in Thornill, Dumfrieshire, her parent's were James Houliston and Jane Todd.
John married Margaret Gardner in 1888 in Glasgow. Margaret was born circa 1865 in Shotts, her parent's were Peter Gardner and Catherine Bothwell. They had 1 child:

Catherine Arbuckle married John Kennedy in 1878 in Bridgeton. John Kennedy was born in 1860 in Archattan, Argyll, his parent's were Alexander Kennedy and Mary Paterson. Catherine and John had 6 children:

Catherine Kinloch married William Ritchie in 1912 in Glasgow. William was born circa 1891, his parents were Alexander Ritchie and Elizabeth Gray.
Elizabeth Arbuckle and James Thomson's children
James married Elizabeth Francis Smith in 1921 in Glasgow. Elizabeth was born circa 1900, her parents were John Smith and Mary Francis.
Alexander Arbuckle and Margaret McGhee's children
Peter married Isabella Cameron in 1912 in Rutherglen. Isabella was born circa 1886 her parents were Donald Cameron and Jane Wilson.
Mary married Fredrick Barnes in 1915 in Rutherglen. Fredrick was born circa 188o his parents were Fredrick and Alice Barnes.
Margaret married William Stewart in 1928 in Glasgow. William was born circa 1881, his parents were John Stewart and Elizabeth McDowall.
Elizabeth married Norman McDonald in 1914 in Rutherglen. Norman was born circa 1894, his mother was Isabella McDonald.

Catherine married Thomas Porte in 1908 in Cambuslang. Thomas was born circa 1891, his parents were Elijah Porte and Agnes McInnes. Catherine and Thomas had 1 child:

Marion married Matthew Mossman in 1925 in Glasgow. Matthew was born circa 1897, his parents were George Mossman and Euphemia Keith.
