| The Matterhorn is probably one of the most noticeable things missing from Walt Disney World. It is also a source of what I call "Mountain Envy." That is the envy caused by not having a Matterhorn at WDW. The Matterhorn was opened in 1959, and adventurers have been sledding down the mountain slopes on one of the dual track high-speed bob-sled runs ever since. When the Skyway was open, the buckets drifted peacefully through the mountain through holes made in the mountain when it was built, but since the Skyway was closed in 1994, they re-faced the Matterhorn to close up the path taken by the Skyway. |
