Andy Brown grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and throughout his childhood was consistently encouraged to draw. After completing high school in 1991 he moved to Chicago to pursue a degree in art. Andy lived in Chicago for six years and graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1995 with a BFA in Painting and Drawing.

In Chicago Andy became acquainted with design through several of his college classes and freelance projects. As he was learning the tools Andy discovered his knack for the commercial arts. Since then life has taken him to New Mexico and ultimately to San Francisco. All the while nurturing his proficiency in all the disciplines associated with print design. He is experienced working with national brands such as Hyatt, Comcast, Wall Street Journal, Quiznos and Round Table Pizza. In his ten years in the industry he has done catalogs, billboards, POP displays, posters, identities, booklets, and various types of collateral.

Andy takes a great deal of pride in his craft. He loves unraveling the tangles of muddled notions and translating them into a clean concise message. Andy takes pleasure in surprising clients with solutions they aspire to but cannot envision. He makes every effort to make his work accessible to people and is often told that his projects receive excellent customer responses.

Painting is still a central discipline in Andy’s life. He is convinced that it keeps his head clear and informs all of his creative decision-making. He believes it is important to be surrounded by people to learn from as well as teach. If he is not faced with a challenge, be assured, he is looking for one.
