Another Transportation Device

After much deliberation, I made the choice on a bike. A Bicycle , even though a motorcycle was in the running. Now I can exercise with out destroying my knees and explore the backwoods of Arkansas. But first, I must build my endurance. Luckily for me living in the Little Rock/North Little Rock area, I have access to a nice and easy trail on the banks of the Arkansas River. The River Trail is open and improving daily . Evidently North Little Rock Parks and Recreation is progressive enough to have a bike rental shop that serves 'ICE COLD BEER". And the location of the rental shop will allow the use of all my transportation devices in one sitting!

New possible site

Possible New Site .

Now I find a bulletin stating any sites created by third party software (iBlog) will still be able to access Homepage files, thus I can still update this bog at this address. I just can't use the online editor. I didn't even know an online editor existed. Amazing what you find out when you read.

4Runner is over 20 MPG, except when pulling the boat and drops below 16 MPG.
Boat runs well. Although I think the fuel line is rotting and clogging the carb.
The truck has a fuel pick up problem. With the amount of rain, I have not been able to look for a solution.
The North Little Rock Pilsner is done, drinkable and good!

Travels of a Rocket Scientist.

A Rocket Scientist recently returned from NASA HQ and inquired about a notice he encountered on his flight home.
Printed on the Jet engine of the airplane

STARTER OVERRIDE ACCESS PANEL
CAUTION: Starter system must be pressurized during manual operation.

Does this mean the Jet engines can be crank started? Is this the job of the co-pilot? How much force does it take to turn over a jet engine?

Exercise

I joined a site to help stay motivated to exercise and I have the option of listing my top 5 fitness activities. Of Course Soccer is number one, Swimming is number two followed by hiking/backpacking. I did not list biking because I do not have a bike. Evidently fishing is a fitness activity so it is listed number four. Rifle/Pistol/Skeet, archery, and hunting are listed and it seems about as strenuous as fishing, unless someone is shooting at you (this would be paint-ball which is listed). I understand the concentration involved, but I just do not see it as strenuous. I considered Circus Aerials or the Flying Trapeze for my fifth, but I stuck with racquetball.

So loyal readers, what do you do for fitness?

If you like snow...

Do not move to Little Rock, AR. The weather guru’s around here predicted ice and freezing rain and sleet and snow and what ever other winter precipitation you can predict for Monday evening through Wednesday. We got crap. On Monday some time, we had some frozen stuff on the trees and the vehicle windshield. Tuesday the temperature never dropped below freezing and it rained all day. It would have been an incredible snow fall if, if, if the temperature was not 37 degrees Fahrenheit and rising. Wednesday dawned to sub freezing temperatures with some clouds. We had some icy spots on the roads, but nothing major, unless you have no idea how to drive. The city and county closed schools on Tuesday so kids would not get wet. The Highway department and other road crews spread sand on the roads to simulate icy conditions. I saw Sunday the temperature will be 50 with snow showers.

This is a new post and not copied from every other year. Last year I was on Nebo and actually had snow!

KTHV predicted Thunder Sleet. Could it be a new Super Hero? Maybe it was something the wonder twins activated. “I make loud noises and you throw Ice!”

Warm front + Cold Front =

Tornados, some deadly tornados. Luckily, Mt Nebo had only rain (LOTS OF RAIN) and wind. Atkins and Clinton AR were hit HARD. Some of the other towns were wiped out.
It is snowing again on Nebo with Jets flying over low in the sky.

Freezing fog

I assume this weather phenomenon is the reason that ice is forming sideways on the trees around here. And the rocks have an smooth even layer of ice.

SOCCER

I am again able to play some soccer in my free time. Today, we played in freezing weather, and won. Not a pretty victory, but a victory. I made it through the game with out any injuries. Keep up with the action on http://www.arkansascentralsoccer.com

Rescue 911

Today I received confirmation that I will be attending a Low Angle Rope Rescue class next week. I will learn how to move injured, or dead, people up and down a modest/short grade. The Park Ranger here takes the procedure to another level by using the winch on his truck. Instead of pulling a rope up the hill, he just hooks the the litter to the winch and drags it up the hill. So when you come to visit I will be able to save you from drowning, pull you up a hill, and provide extended first aid with duct tape and a tree.

The Calendar

A Calendar of other holiday s for your enjoyment.

If you have other holidays to add, please let me know. Or other important holidays in future months let me know. This will be a monthly update. I know 'no pants day' and 'talk like a pirate day' are two I want to add, but I don't remember the dates.

Time is on my side

I just have more time since my commute is 2 minutes. I pulled out all the carbs out of the bucket and opened up the Rochester Carb book. I may have picked the wrong carbs for my project. The single barrel Solex carb on the boat has 18 pieces. The Rochester MonoJet carb I am using has 59 pieces. The Monojet is original equipment so it should work. I just have to figure out how to modify each carb.
Should I go with a progressive linkage or a uniform linkage?
