Tue - November 24, 2009Thanksgiving WeekI am thankful I can take off a week from work.
Well, three days and two days for the holidays. But hey, it is a
week.
So for my vacation... Saturday: Fishing with Pops, the rocket scientist pictured below, and then dinner and drinks on Nebo with friends and soon-to-be family (soon is a relative word). Sunday: Two soccer games. Some might same I am in shape, some say I am stupid. I say I hurt. Check here for my goal count. And here for my Card count Monday: Took Booda in for surgery to remove Tumors from his colon. He is recovering well. Tuesday: Played video games, did laundry, cleaned part of my room, organized some of the brewing stuff. The rest of the week? Eating on Thursday is all I got planned. Posted at 11:01 PM Mon - November 9, 2009Truck, then beerSaturday was a day of
accomplishments.
The Truck is back on the road, legally. I still need to finish the linkages for the carbs, but it is drivable and fun! And of course some tuning when all the carbs are working. The brown ale is brewing. And brewing strong. I shortened the boil time by a few minutes due to time. I don't think it will affect the final product. In fact, it has been bubbling strongly for the past 24 hours. This batch just feels better than before. And for this batch, and future brews, I am using this iPhone app. So I have in my beer vault.... Irish Red NLR Pilsner NLR Brown Ale (current upgraded batch brewing) NLR Continental Dark coming for Christmas Maybe for an early Christmas someone will give me a keg system!! Posted at 09:36 PM Thu - October 29, 2009Teach a Friend to Homebrew day11th Annual Teach a Friend to
Homebrew Day and The Beer and Trucks homebrew site is participating in this
year’s celebration.
Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day is an international event celebrated each year on the first Saturday in November with the goal of introducing people to the homebrewing hobby and establishing relationships with local homebrew supply shops and homebrew clubs. Beer and Trucks is happy to invite anyone who is interested in learning how to homebrew to stop by the site on Saturday, November 7. In 2008, over 2,100 participants brewed approximately 2,800 gallons on Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day at 140 sites worldwide (including sites in Canada, Kenya, Denmark, and 40 states in the United States). This year, the AHA expects even greater participation. "One of the great things about homebrewers is they are happy to share their knowledge and to pass on the joy that they find in homebrewing to others,” states Gary Glass, the director for AHA, “that's really what Teach A Friend To Homebrew Day is all about." Homebrewing is a hobby that is increasing in popularity and something that almost anyone 21 years and older can enjoy. Homebrewing is a rewarding but easy hobby – anyone who has a kitchen can do it. The equipment and ingredients needed are less expensive than most people think. For information on how to participate in this year’s Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day event and to view the registered sites, visit www.beertown.org/events/teach Posted at 12:57 AM Thu - August 27, 2009Brewing has a history of Green.I can't say I am green when it comes to brewing,

Posted at 10:04 PM Tue - August 4, 2009Fri - July 31, 2009Getting the spouse to come along.Over on ‘It’s 5 o’clock somewhere’, a writing project was presented for fellow bloggers. I was unsure if I could participate because it specifies ‘spouse’ and ‘what the spouse could do if not sailing’. Then I reread the instructions. Simply compose a blog post, or post a response in the comments here, telling about things besides sailing that can be done near your local sailing venue, so non-sailing travel companions can enjoy themselves, or for sailors to do when the weather isn't suitable for sailing What can be done in Little Rock if not sailing. Let’s start with the Grand Maumelle Sailing Club . You can sail on the Arkansas River, but I bet it is tricky. So now on to the non-sailing stuff. Catch a show at the Verizon

Posted at 09:49 PM Sat - May 30, 2009Saturday night is allright for....sitting home alone
drinking.
So I am drinking my Homebrew and things are burning outside. Maybe may housemate put out the fire before he went to work. He was burning debris and almost torched his shed. The same shed he was tearing down to put in the burn barrel. I might get up to check a little later. Posted at 08:29 PM Fri - May 29, 2009The BoatI have this 18' invader ski boat I acquired from
my Aunt and Uncle. It has been well used and has the normal share of problems.
The coil would over heat thus shutting down the motor, there was a STRONG smell
of gasoline, it would backfire, not start, stall/slow down in a turn, leak
water, and the fuel gauge did not work. After about two years of repairing the
items listed above, I took on my first group of passengers. Mitsy has been
before, but for short trips. So this time out....It ran wonderfully! No
problems in any way. I can add a boat to my ever growing list of running
transportation devices.
