The old man
Booda and I walked the Rim trail yesterday after
work. I think it is between 3 and 4 miles and we covered it in 1 hour and 15
minutes. Our progress slowed because of a rockslide and a detour. It was not
an active rockslide, but a slide that required a detour. However, the detour
trail was not marked and what I think was the trail had a tree across it. Since
I was not on the clock, I left it for somebody else. We were pushing it for
daylight toward the end and Booda was going slower and slower as we rounded the
north side of the Mountain. He made it but could not get down the steps later
in the evening. I did give him a pain pill for his arthritis at bedtime so he
could sleep better. By the morning, he had recovered and was eager to go again.
I let him outside to do his thing and heard him barking and growling about 20
minutes later. As I made it outside on the deck, he came around the corner with
a roll in his mouth. He had buried a roll a few days (week) ago and I think the
Husky up the street was after his food. So when you visit, bring your own
rolls.
