What is WordLookup?

WordLookup is a MacOS-X and iPhone application for converting words between languages using data that you can download from the internet. More information about setup and obtaining data for use with WordLookup can be obtained by reading the online help that is supplied with WordLookup.

Data Responsibility

WordLookup ultimately uses data that can be freely downloaded over the internet from other organisations or projects. This is a significant advantage for the WordLookup product as you can update the data used with WordLookup over time and you have the ability to utilise community-driven data sources. This fact does however mean that the author cannot take any responsibility for the content of the data that you download either manually or using the WordLookup software. If you have any corrections, would like to augment or comment on the data you are using with WordLookup please contact the author(s) of the data that you are using directly.

Requirements

WordLookup for MacOS requires MacOS-X version 10.4.4 or better. WordLookup for iPhone requires iPhoneOS 2.1 or better.

You can enter a keyword and then search for entries containing the supplied keyword or keywords.

The book installation panel allows you to load book data in.

WordLookup will try to show you entries that are closer to your keywords first, but if there are more entries found, you will be prompted.

You can use the Services feature in MacOS-X and a keyboard shortcut to lookup words in some other applications. Note that this may not work in all circumstances with all applications.

You are able to make entire-entry selections as well as partial-entry selections.

Flags are used to afford the user quick identification of language entries. If there are options as to which flag could be used, WordLookup allows you to choose.
