Autumn 2003

Elected!
                 ..................
Andrew

On 23 October I was elected as Liberal Democrat councillor, taking a previously safe seat from Labour.

The result was:
Andrew Milton (Liberal Democrat) 1054
Labour 869
Conservative 354
Green 154
UKIP 44
Christian Peoples Alliance 41

The campaign was hard work. But being a councillor for this diverse, inner city ward is going to be challenging.

Have arranged a surgery for the 3rd Saturday in the month at Lewisham Library. 11-12.30.

Getting Older
It was my 47th birthday on 28 September. Getting dangerously close to 50. Not sure how I feel about it.

In a strange way, I feel curiously calm and settled at the moment. It's a sense of having finally found a resting place. I've accepted that my civil service career isn't really going anywhere. And I'm finding interests outside, especially of course being a local councillor, which I hope will give me some interest and satisfaction.

Andrew
Re-emersing myself in local politics is clearly going to change my life. For the better, I hope.

But I still hope to find to do others things, like going to the theatre, films, ordinary stuff like that. And perhaps even pursue my genealogical researches.

And of course going to concerts, such as the one at the WIgmore Hall this Sunday.
