Uranus can be found during 2009 within the zodiac constellation of Pisces, leaving Aquarius in the only the first week. The planet, like nearby Neptune, is not very well placed in the early part of the year, as its approaches its solar conjunction on 13th March. As a morning object, it will be best visible in mid-May just before civil twilight.
The best time to observe is at opposition, which occurs in 2010 on 17 September, meaning it rises in the east just as the Sun sets in the west. Uranus then will reach the meridian around midnight, but will likely be placed high enough for reasonable observation after about 8.30pm or 9.00pm in the evening.
During 2009, Uranus reaches it furthest distance from the sun in its orbit (periapsis) occurred on 26th January. This finds that during opposition the apparent visual magnitude is its smallest value, and therefore planet will be 5.8v or 5.9v rather than when apapsis at 5.3 or 5.45 magnitude. This variance is caused by the 2.A.U. distance changes as the Earth orbits the Sun. While 0.5-odd magnitude difference appears somewhat too small, but it makes sense when compared to the mean or average solar distance of 19.1 A.U. [In fact, the further some Solar System object lies away, generally the smaller the magnitude range will span. However, orbital eccentricity ‘e’ of the body also plays a significant role in the result.]
Telescopically, Uranus appears as a featureless small greenish disk subtending just over 3½ arcsec. Binoculars only sees Uranus as stellar point.

Uranus can be found during 2010 on the
eastern side of the zodiac constellation of Pisces, The
Fishes. The planet is not very well placed in the early
part of the year, as it is approaching solar conjunction
on 17th March — five days later than during 2009.
As a morning object, it will really be first visible in
about mid-May, and only just before civil twilight
begins.
The best time to observe is at opposition. This
occurs on 22 September, and will it rise due east as the
Sun sets on the west horizon. The minimum distance being
19.09 A.U. from the observer. Uranus crosses the meridian
during opposition in September and October around midnight,
but will likely be placed high enough for reasonable
observation after about 8.30pm or 9.00pm earlier in the
evening. During most of November, Uranus is best place on
the meridian, transiting around the same time darkness
falls for telescopic observing.
