Mason & Avery
Our twin sons arrived very early due to a series of pregnancy complications (pregnancy details). On Feb 2, 2005, Mason and Avery began life outside the womb. At only 25 weeks gestation (over 3 months premature), they are classified as micropreemies. They have a very rough road ahead of them before they may come home to be with their family, and the rough road may not end there. Having said that, the babies' doctors and nurses have given us reason to be cautiously optimistic. They are very fragile, but are extremely tough little guys who started out very strong and healthy for their gestational age. So far, they have responded very well to all treatment. They are in the best care possible and we are hopeful for a positive outcome.
During this time, it is nearly impossible to have the time and energy to keep all of our family and friends updated in person in a timely fashion. However, we really want to keep everyone informed as much as possible with the latest news of their growth and development while in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). We intend to update this website on a daily basis, so please check in frequently to see our chronological journal and the latest photos. Having said that, please don't hesitate to call or email us! Just know that if you don't reach us in person, it is sometimes taking us a while to return contact. We still love to hear from everyone.

A Huge THANKS! We are so appreciative to all of our wonderful friends and family who have been so supportive during this time, both during Andrea's bedrest and since the unexpected early delivery. The meals, the visits, the help caring for our dogs, the emotional support, the gifts, the hugs, the plants and flowers, the warm thoughts, prayers and good energy have made this much easier on us. It's allowed us to put all our time and energy into focusing on our physical and emotional healing, and most importantly on our precious little boys. We hope to thank everyone in person, but for now, we want to let you now that nothing has gone unnoticed. We are grateful for having such wonderful people in our lives and love you all very much. |
