7.10.05: health check and family visitors Mason started off the week with his 2-week follow-up pediatric appointment which included his latest round of vaccinations (the "4 month" series). Mason was a great patient through all of it. He showed the doctor some of his personality while she evaluated his development and she was very pleased with how he's doing in all areas. She remarked that no one would ever guess that he was a micropreemie, as he shows no evident signs. If she didn't know otherwise, he would appear to be a healthy 2-month-old boy. He weighed 12 pounds, 4 oz and measured 23 3/4 inches with about a 41 cm head circumference. All the measurements keep him at roughly the 90-95%+ range on the preemie growth curve. Due to his steady growth and relatively solid health, Mason's not required to come in again for a full month! We notice Mason developing more every day, particularly in the social department. He always wakes up in the morning smiling and talking, and his good mood lasts most of the morning. His eyes are tracking things more and more, and he's starting to turn toward voices and noises at times. We continue to be amazed out how quickly babies grow and change. Mason is getting to better know his Grandma and Grandpa Neal and Great Grandma Kinsey from southern California this weekend. We were all able to go as a family twice to visit Avery in the NICU and Mason had the chance to say hello to a lot of folks he hasn't seen since he said goodbye to the nursery five weeks ago.
