Birthday girl
10/27/07 21:31 Filed in: Birthdays
So, yesterday the Princess of Cady-World turned three
years old. We stretched out the birthday celebration
over the past two days. She had cupcakes at her
preschool on Friday. Then today, we went back to her
preschool for a Halloween festival, then back to our
house with a small birthday party shared with a close
friend, and my adult son. Both of whom she adores.
Last year, Cady had a birthday tiara that finally broke about a month ago. And this year, it was replaced by two others (just in case one of them breaks this year, we have a back-up now). Well, aparently, both of them are a huge success, because she wore them as often as she could for both days.
One of her birthday presents was a Fisher Price digital camera. The camera uploads to a computer just like any other digital camera. It actually takes decent pictures too. Scott is in the process of starting Cady's picture web page for her. You can view the first of her photo adventures here, at Cady's Picture Pages. Especially cute from the pictures that she took today, were all of the 'feet shots' in the back of the car on the ride home from the festival. It's a glimpse of seeing the world thru Cady's perspective.
Another present that was a hit was a kitchen set. In the pictures we have with her playing with the kitchen, they almost look like she's in a real kitchen. While she was playing with it, she brought out a stuffed turtle and started saying that she was making 'turtle soup' After she made some pretend soup, and put the turtle's head on a plastic bowl, we realized that the turtle soup was actually....soup for the turtle. Until then, I was actually wondering why she wanted to cook her turtle.
Here are some highlights of both days:

Rain, rain ....come back again another day

As all two and three year olds do, Cady is drawn
toward puddles like a duckling. So, it was no
surprise that she wanted to go with her daddy on an
adventure to get the mail, the first day it rained
here.
To view the world thru the lens of my daughter's eye, would be a painter's dream. Dance, stomp, rejoice in the splendor of the rainbows, sweet child, and keep me in your world.

Pumpkin farm, and no pumpkin

Last weekend we went to a pumpkin farm in the middle
of nowhere. We took a long country road to a town
called Wheatland. When we arrived to the town, I
thought that it might have just been a nice drive.
The town is so small. But when we got to the pumpkin
farm it was HUGE. The parking lot was around ten
acres of space, and by 10 am it was more than half
full.
There were pony rides, panning for gold.....(marbles) in a creek, curvy slides, and a train ride.
Cady was very excited to ride the pony. We thought for sure that she would need me walking along side her the entire time. Half way thru she didn't even notice me with her, and she went on without me. She had her serious look on the whole time though.
She's such an easy kid. We didn't even think about bringing a stroller, but she walked along side us thru most of it.
I think the most exciting time for her though, was the train ride. Just look at this face when we were sitting down ready to take off:
We spent so much time doing other things, that we never got around to picking out pumpkins.

Who, her?

No, really. She really is sweet and innocent. But she loves stickers, and usually puts them on herself instead of paper. So, when Char - Daniel's girlfriend sent these in a Cinderella Halloween card, we couldn't resist helping her out a bit.
Now, if she comes home from preschool on the back of a motorcycle, we're gonna know we made a mistake! But that will never happen, because her daddy already announced several months ago that she's not going to date till she's old enough to move out of the house (and out of college).
Dancing queen

From the Family Fun Challenge, posted on Loving Lydia's blog; Here are
some pictures that sum up our Cadence.
Her name fits her so well. And we had no idea. When it comes to dancing and tumbling, she has always been advanced. She started doing perfect summersaults when she was only 18 months old. This girl LIVES to move to rhythm. If a dance routine comes on TV, she can't help herself. She stands up and starts to dance with it. She's danced with the best of them. The conetestants on So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing with the stars, and even Napolean Dynomite.
She watches their hand movements, and their foot movements, and mimics them as best she can, with every move. And I must say, she does really well. She LOVES dancing and gymnastics. We couldn't keep her down if we tried.

Just 3 days ago, Jenny Bowen had 700+ votes. She was
not even in the top 10 people voted for. Yesterday
she reached 2,000+ votes, and was among the top 8
participants. Today, she is in the number 1 spot, and
has reached an amazing 9,034 votes and you can
actually refresh the screen to see it go up at times.
It's such a beautiful thing to know that there are so many people that want to see HTS succeed. It really is something to know that so many people can come together for a cause. Even if the cause is only to vote for someone deserving a spot in the Olympics torchbearers.
I, for one, will be proud to see her run with the torch. And there must be at least 9,033 other people who feel the same way.
If you haven't cast your vote yet and wish to, here is the direct link
