Homework Exercises

Description

The link represents your homework, so be sure it works correctly before submitting it. I can only view what you upload to the live, remote site. Even if you've completed the assignment on your local site, it's not turned in until it has been uploaded and checked.

Process

  1. At the beginning of the quarter, we'll put the necessary tutorial files in the right place. You can skip any steps that refer to downloading files from http://www.sawmac.com
  2. Also skip the step that talks about creating and naming a new site or setting up a new site definition—instead, use the site we've already set up for all the homework exercises: "573-homework"
  3. Once completed, upload all the tutorial files (or the whole folder)
  4. Test your work by visiting the complete remote URL:
    http://home-(#).arts.ohio-state.edu/~name#/folder/filename.html
  5. Check for problems (missing graphics, etc.)—previewing the site is not the same as visiting the "live" site, and your audience can only view the live site
  6. Upload this complete URL to Carmen to submit your homework assignment
    1. In the browser, click on the small icon to the left of the URL to highlight it
    2. Then drag that icon off the browser onto your desktop which creates a file of the complete URL that you can upload
    3. Right-click (ctrl-click) on the file and "Compress" it (or Zip it on PC)
    4. Rename the file "lastname_chapterN" (keep the file extension if it's there)
    5. Upload the file and…
    6. Paste the entire link into the comments in Carmen

Book On-line

You may be more comfortable using the printed version of the book, but the full-text is available on-line through Ohio State's library: http://proquest.safaribooksonline.com

If you're off-campus, this is one way to get there:

  1. http://library.osu.edu
  2. Click on "Research Databases"
  3. Find "Safari"
  4. Click on "Off campus sign in" in the description below
  5. Authenticate with your OSU credentials
  6. Search for "Dreamweaver CS3"
