On Friday, November 7, the Second Annual Forgotten Youth Conference, focusing on issues involving sexual minority and gender variant youth, was held at College Of DuPage in Glen Ellyn. PFLAG DuPage’s president, Gail Hanson and husband, Paul, manned an information table display along with others representing organizations such as “Breaking Free”, Chicago Lakeshore Hospital, College of DuPage, Compassionate Counseling, DuPage County Health Department, DuPage National Organization for Women, DuPage Unitarian Universalist Church, First Congregational Church of Naperville – Diversity Task Force, Illinois Safe Schools Alliance, Indian Prairie School District #204, Linden Oaks at Edward, Naperville Police Department, NCO Youth & Family Services, PFLAG Council of Northern Illinois, PFLAG DuPage, Rosecrance Health Network, Wesley United Methodist Church, Naperville Youth Outlook and YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago West Suburban.
Marianne Avery, PFLAG DuPAGE member joined John Cepek, (PFLAG’s National president), his wife, Char, and John Larsen,( PFLAG Council of Northern Illinois) in presenting a Break-Out Session titled PFLAG Yesterday & Today. This was one of twelve offered to participants of this day-long event.
