Aaron M. Katz is a freelance
web designer with over seven years of experience in the field
of web production, desktop publishing, technology
management and communications. Aaron holds a Master of Science
degree in Strategic
Technology Management from the pioneering and highly
acclaimed program at the Graduate Technology Center of Marlboro
College in Brattleboro, Vermont.
In
1996 Aaron participated in the founding of the Center for Millennial
Studies (CMS) at Boston University, creating their database
system, designing, editing and producing their newsletter, Millennial
Stew, and updating their award winning web site. From 1996
to 1998 Aaron worked for the CMS, consulting with researchers,
academics and media outlets and was cited in various publications
including the New
York Post and the Jerusalem Report.
In
1999 Aaron joined the Project
on Defense Alternatives at
the Commonwealth Institute where he served as Director
of Communications and Publications until 2001.
While
pursuing a Master of Science in Strategic Technology Management
Aaron provided extensive consultative web services to Farm
Aid, the national non-profit organization founded by Willie
Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp. Applying the latest
in web technology systems, Aaron provided an overall
assessment of Farm Aid's web presence including design elements,
site structure, marketing and legal issues. The project culminated
in a comprehensive Internet
strategy for enhancing Farm Aid's web presence as well
as increasing viewership and brand awareness. Aaron successfully
created and designed a new gateway index
page for better site access as well as researching and
presenting options for incorporating interactive elements
with the purpose of facilitating online issues advocacy and
user activism.
Aaron
is skilled in HTML, DHTML, Javascript, digital video conversion
and encoding and the latest programs including Macromedia Dreamweaver
MX, Adobe GoLive, Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign,
FileMaker Pro, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint),
Macintosh and Windows platforms including Mac OS X. He also
possesses a keen understanding of current technology issues
and Web trends including elements of usability and navigation,
graphic design, scenario building, online marketing, Web infrastructures,
engineering concepts and legal issues.
