Activities > Book Group

The Book Group began in the autumn of 2007. Its purpose is to encourage the reading of theological books. The Group decides what to read, goes away and reads it, then meets again to discuss what has been read. New titles are then agreed and the process repeats itself.

The first selected titles were Keith Ward: 'Christianity: A guide for the perplexed' (SPCK 2007) and Gerd Theissen: 'The Shadow of the Galilean' (SCM 1987). To these have since been added Marcus Borg: 'Meeting Jesus again for the first time' (HarperSanFrancisco 1995) and Clive Marsh: 'Christianity in a post-atheist age' (SCM 2002). The most recently selected book is Mark Oakley: 'The Collage of God' (DLT 2001). The first part of this book was discussed at the meeting in July, the second part will be considered at the next meeting, which is on Tuesday 19 August at 7.30 pm.

New members of the Group are always welcome.
