Wisconsin-Illinois Chapter

North American Rock Garden Society

Welcome to the online home of the Wisconsin-Illinois Chapter [WI-IL Rock] of the North American Rock Garden Society [NARGS]. Founded in 1968 our non-profit society promotes alpine gardening and encourages rock gardeners in Wisconsin and northern Illinois. The upper Midwest is a challenging environment for rock gardens and it is our mission to share our experience and expertise for the benefits of regional rock gardeners.

WI-IL Rock meets monthly year-round generally on the 3rd Saturday in the afternoon. Meetings are usually held in Madison WI either at Olbrich Botanical Gardens or the Dane County Extension Center. Check the “Meetings” link to the right to get more information.

The chapter offers its members:
  • monthly meetings with presentations by local, national and international speakers
  • 6 newsletters yearly
  • fall plant sale each year, periodic spring sales
  • garden tours and field trips
  • workshops and demonstrations
  • volunteer opportunities at public gardens & WHA Garden Expo

New members of all levels of experience and interests are always welcome. Our membership ranges from beginners to experts & professionals.
Membership dues are just $10 a year. Dues are for local membership only. NARGS membership information can be found at their
