Dear Old Ways friends,
As the year draws to a close and the days are at their shortest, we all
find ourselves taking stock of the people around us whose words and
deeds have filled these past twelve months with friendship, and lit even
the darkest nights with kindness and love.
May the coming year teach us all to value and respect those whose
support helps us to grow toward our goals. May it encourage us to give
generously of ourselves: not only to our family, friends and colleagues,
but to humanity as a whole; not only in word, but in deed. May it teach
us to cherish the unexpected and to value those fleeting moments of joy
whose sweetness is all the greater for catching us unawares. And may we
resolve, in the coming year, to temper our actions with reflection, our
ambitions with consideration, and our judgements of others with mercy
and wisdom.
Once again, as I look back on 1998, I am reminded of your unstinting
support and enthusiasm. The greatest gift a singer, musician or
songwriter could hope for comes with the knowledge that her songs have
found a home in the hearts of others. For the generous welcome you have
shown to my songs, I send you my deepest thanks.
