From: Karen Shook Date: Sat, 15 Feb 1997 08:27:03 GMT Subject: Fwd: Hello from Minion and LM Dear Old Wayers, It's a Friday night ... Valentine's Night, in fact... and the Quinlan Road team wanted to send along messages, seasonal and otherwise, of greetings. There, does that sound mature enough? Actually, we're sitting about laughing and cracking very bad jokes, but we don't mind, as we think we're awfully amusing. Well, I've never introduced Loreena McKennitt onstage, but I suppose if this introduction works out, maybe she'll let me use the microphone for the next tour. (Ta-dummmm.....) Loreena, visiting the Old Ways list! Well I don't know exactly what to say, stage fright in a new kind of way and as Karen has pointed out, not the right kind of sound check. To begin with, I have just returned to studio mode to begin mixing the pieces that are ready for the next recording. It is a less consuming process than tracking as most of the major decisions are done, but as they say in music land, it's not finished until it's in the stores. Now, I would like to raise a matter with you folks, ....Karen has indicated there might be a little something on its way from you dear hearts, and I was just wondering if it might be all YOUR SIGNED KNICKERS. ****Some time later**** Erm, excuse me. Boss? Can I have a word with you? It's about your message to the Old Ways list. Uh, do you know how much strange post we've had in the last few weeks? Please, next time, tell them to send... uh... just, please, no knickers any more! None of them are my size! ******(Karen)********** Anyway, I know you will all be most discreet and sensible and I want to thank you for that. I have this creeping suspicion however that my colleagues here at Quinlan have unleashed some exercise or another on the celebration of my birthday for which I hardly know how to prepare myself. It began with the chocolate cake in Stratford on Wednesday afternoon. Seriously, I have a friend who has all his friends over for dinner on his birthday, and to tell you the truth I wish I could do the same for you folks. But Karen informs me the cutlery is short. Many thanks dear hearts and it was great seeing so many of you in Montreal last July. We promise to keep you informed as best we can on what's coming up next (as soon as WE find out) Till then, keep well and happy. Lots of love, Loreena - -- Karen Shook karen@torr.demon.co.uk
