A Challenge for Loreena

"I would like to think the following challenge I made was somehow responsible for bringing Loreena into our midst on The Old Ways mailing list and am willing to accept credit for it. :-) This was my challenge and HERE is her first of what I hope will be many postings." G.Meier From: blbeast@win.bright.net (Greg Meier) Date: Thu, 5 Dec 1996 00:16:19 -0600 Subject: A Challenge for Loreena I've been a subscriber to, and reader of the Old Ways for nigh on twenty four months. For the first year or so I was a rather active poster, then turned to lurking, (still reading everything, just not responding much.) In the last 6 months or so I have noticed a distinct lack of really enthusiastic postings giving praise and adulation of Loreena and her work. I think this is due to the fact that LM is not touring and has not created/released any new material for her adoring fans to discuss and rave about. Therefore, I am going to stick my neck out, go out on a limb, risk the wrath of all true believers; and challenge Loreena to become an active participant on this list! (Loreena, art thou listening?) The Old-Ways is in desperate need of inspiration and we all know this can only come from LM herself. So this is it. As a faithful Old-Wayser, I officially challenge "Our Inspiration", Loreena McKennitt, to contribute any smidgen of personal thought that will provide Old-Wayser's the fodder we need to revitalize our discussions, to inspire us to fill up the Old-Ways mail box with profound and imaginative responses. To Boldly Go Where No Old-Wayser Has Gone Before! I would consider any messages forwarded thru and vouched for by the Quinlan Webminions as an official response, out of respect for LM's privacy, so there is no need for her to reveal her personal email address, to prevent her from being deluged with messages from fervent fans. (such as I!) (I'm hoping I haven't stirred up a hornets nest, and that the loud buzzing I hear is only the activation of Old-Wayser brain cells being warmed up in anticipation of the possibility of hearing directly from their deity.) :-) So, how about it Loreena? I think a short paragraph from you every couple weeks would be more than enough to keep our interest. Isn't this what this brave new world of cyberspace communications is all about? You have direct, instantaneous contact with hundreds (thousands?) of your followers. Contact Us!..... Direct Us!........ Inspire Us!.... Chat With Us!......VISIT US! That is my challenge. Respectfully Yours, A Faithful Listener Greg Meier "The Original Christie Mt Blue Hills Beast."
